Monsterous Mushrooms!

A little over a month ago the kids and I found this HUGE mushroom in our yard. If you already saw these pics on fb keep reading because there is more!
We were amazed at just how big this crazy mushroom was, and it was right out in the middle of the lawn. As a matter of fact, when Grant spotted it from a distance, he yelled "WHO threw a diaper out in the middle of our yard?!"
My neurotic self made Grant wear gloves to handle the mammoth shroom. Tootie was happy just watching (and making silly faces of course!)
Grant just couldn't wait go SMASH it! I'm telling ya, he's ALL boy!
Well, we thought that mushroom was big until we found this one today...
Don't believe me? Just ask Tootie!!!
This thing was GINORMOUS!!!!
Again, Grant wasn't interested in posing for pictures. He picked out his 'tool' and had visions of mushroom smashing dancing in his head.
I did get this one cute one of him though. And let me tell you that thing was surprisingly heavy!
So the kids loaded it up in the back of the gator to haul it to it's destiny.

Audrey quickly lost interest in destroying the mushroom so I used the opportunity to take a couple of cue-T pictures of her and her baby.
Grant was in his glory poking, prodding and smashing.
There wasn't much left when he was finished but he sure had fun pulverizing it!
I have no idea if that was an edible mushroom or not (my guess is not), but I couldn't help but think of how good it would have tasted all seasoned up and fried in butter.

Pioneer Days 2010

This past Saturday, the hubby and I took the kids on our annual family outing to Pioneer Days which is a fun little festival with lots and lots of tractors, yummy food, a petting zoo, a flea market and much, much more.
Since I am, you know...picture crazed, I couldn't just share a few photos from our day so instead I included about 60 of my favorites in a slideshow for your viewing pleasure.

You can thank me later.

Oh, I kid!

Not about sharing a slideshow, because I really am going to share one.

Right now, as a matter of fact!

I can honestly say Saturday was one of the best day's we have had in a long time. Everyone was happy and there was no whining or fighting all day. Okay, we forgot the stroller so there was a little whining by Audrey (for me to carry her) and by me (because I was sick of carrying her). Never again! The stroller comes with. Period.
The weather was perfect and there was lots to see and do. And as always we ran into lots of people we don't get to see that often, which is always nice.
We got home around 6 pm and Audrey had fallen asleep in the car and Duke had to go run an errand so Grant and I decided to start a bonfire. When Duke got home we grilled up some Ribeye steaks and potatoes. YUM! Then, when the kids went to bed at 8:30 the hubs and I got to enjoy a beer {or two} and some quiet time by the fire. What a perfect way to end a perfect day!

It has been a while since I last participated in one of iheartfaces weekly photo challenges but this week I just couldn't resist when I saw the theme "Smirk." Then, after I hunted through my many many photos, I realized I really wasn't sure what a true smirk looked like. If I had to wager a guess, I'd say this has to be pretty darn close!Make sure to head over to www.iheartfaces.com to check out all of the other smirkers!!
