i heart faces - 'Pet Week'

Another theme over at iheartfaces that I could not resist entering...Pets! I am a huge animal LOVER and this here is my sweet baby doll, Roxy! She doesn't look too 'sweet' in this picture...rather, she looks more like Swamp Thing but I simply love this picture of her. Playing fetch and swimming in the pond...that's what she loves to do!If you're an animal lover as well, make sure to head over to iheartfaces to see all of the other adorable critters this week!

i heart faces - 'Silhouette'

This week's theme over at i heart faces is 'Silhouette' and it just so happens that last week, prior to winter's sudden onset, I took the kids to the park and captured some super cute silhouette shots. This one is my favorite one because it looks so serene with the little sun flare in the background but all the while, little mister was yelling at me to stop taking his picture so I could help him on the monkey bars! Good thing it is a silhouette shot or you would probably see a great big scowl on his face :)Make sure to head over to iheartfaces.com by clicking on the button below to check out all off the other super cool silhouettes!

i heart faces - 'Pink Week'

This week’s theme over at iheartfaces is in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Yes, it is PINK week!!!Thankfully, I do not have a profound and moving story to tell you about this picture. It is just one of those lucky pictures from a photo shoot I took this past summer and I happened to capture such a seemingly sweet moment. With a little editing I was able to give this candid shot a whole new meaning. As a mother, I can not imagine having to leave my children behind or to have to see them suffer from cancer one day. I have a deep hatred for the 'c' word because of all of the pain and suffering it has caused so many families. So thank you iheartfaces for choosing to honor those who have been effected by breast cancer (heck ANY cancer). They are all true HEROS!
Make sure to head on over to www.iheartfaces.com to check our all of the other PINK entries and to spread the word and love to all of those taking the time to share their pictures and stories.

i heart faces - 'Smirk'

It has been a while since I last participated in one of iheartfaces weekly photo challenges but this week I just couldn't resist when I saw the theme "Smirk." Then, after I hunted through my many many photos, I realized I really wasn't sure what a true smirk looked like. If I had to wager a guess, I'd say this has to be pretty darn close!Make sure to head over to www.iheartfaces.com to check out all of the other smirkers!!

iheartfaces - 'Beach Fun'

This weeks theme for iheartfaces' weekly photo challenge is 'Beach Fun' and what is more fun than a baby's first summer of enjoying the beach? The cool water and the feeling of sand between your {chubby} toes and all that sand that you can shovel in your mouth :)

Can you tell I have baby-envy...I keep posting pictures of my friends baby boys. But do you blame me when they are this stinkin' cute...

i heart faces - 'Got to Wear Shades'

It is no secret that my little man LOVES to dress up. It is also no secret that he often comes up with some purdy interesting (to say the least) get-ups! And this time, he did NOT disappoint! The other day I was outside watering my flowers when out from the house emerged this...Yes, my dear little Grant decided a hot summer day was the perfect time to dress up in his cowboy gear - Cowboy boots, a Dodge Ram bandanna tied around his neck, jean (shorts) with a belt of course, his sister's red cowgirl errr, cowboy hat, play pistol in hand and of course, don't forget a pair of shades to top the ensemble off! Hey, whatever floats his boat, I guess!

What do you get when you are in the car, on the way to a grad party, you have to stop off at the gas station so Daddy can pick something up, Mom is in the front (passengers) seat with her camera, everyone is getting bored waiting so Mom whips out the camera and says,
"Show me your happy face."
"Show me your sad face."
"Show me your grumpy face."
"Show me your silly face."
"Now show me your surprised face."?If you couldn't tell, this week's photo challenge theme over at i heart faces is 'Surprise!" I can't wait to see what everyone has in store this week. Make sure to head on over to www.iheartfaces.com to check out all of the other surprising entries!!!!

i heart faces - 'Purple'

This week's photo challenge theme over at iheartfaces is 'Purple.' About a week and a half ago, I did a photo shoot for a friend at a local flower garden. Luckily, I had a few to choose from with purple in them and this was my favorite...

i heart faces - 'Pets'

This weeks theme over at iheartfaces is 'Pets'. I'll give you one chance to guess which pet below is mine...Tom or Jerry?
If you guessed Tom Trixie you are correct!

The story of how this picture came to be is almost as funny as the picture itself. This very afternoon, I was moving three bags of top soil and when I picked up the last one, a furry little baby mouse was scurrying around. Grant wanted me to catch it so I told him to grab one of his butterfly nets. He did, and I was able to capture this little feller (not without a couple of high-pitched squeals and shrieks, mind you!) Since we had actually managed to catch it, I figured we had better at least take a couple of pictures of it. I told Grant to hold the net while I tried to get a picture of him. The mouse ran to the top of the net and sat there while I snapped away. Meanwhile, our cat was enjoying a peaceful nap in the sunshine. Grant decided the cat should 'get' the mouse since that is why we have her (to keep mice out of the garage) and she is usually quite good at it. In this case, she was sleeping so soundly, she didn't even know that a mouse was right under her nose...literally!!!
For those of you who are wondering the fate of little Jerry...well he ended up running up the handle of the net, Grant screamed like a girl and dropped the net right on the cat. At that point the mouse ran right over the cat and up the back of the chair she was lying on and took an Evil Knievel leap from the top rung into an evergreen shrub, never to be seen again. The End.

i heart faces - 'All About Babies'

Babies. All about babies. What's not to love? I can tell you that I love that iheartfaces chose 'All About Babies' as their theme this week. You know for sure that the competition will be stiff and that there will be a plethora of cuteness for our viewing pleasure. I can't wait to see what everyone else has entered!
Since my kiddos were out of their itty bitty baby stage before I got my DSLR and really got interested in photography, I am entering a picture of my dear friend, Lisa's little boy. He is the cutest little rolly-poly baby I have ever laid eyes upon. I could just eat him right up! This pic was taken last Oct when he was 3 mos old. Crazy to believe he will be 1 year old this July AND he will be a BIG brother around the same time. His Birthday is July 15th and his little brother is set to arrive around July 24th!!! Can't wait to meet and photograph that little darlin' as well.

i heart faces - 'Play'

The theme over at iheartfaces this week is 'Play' ~ And what a fun theme it is!!!! Although my entry isn't an action shot of the kids playing tag or of them playing with conventional 'toys' it is a picture of them doing two of the things I love watching them do the most....reading and playing {nicely} together.
Grant just turned 5 in March so he isn't technically 'reading' to Audrey, but if she is sitting and listening intently to Grant's rendition of "Dora the Explorer - When I Grow Up" then so be it!!! Anything as long as he isn't tormenting her to the point of shrieking is A-OK with me :)

i heart faces - 'Yellow'

This week, iheartfaces chose yellow as their theme. Yellow has never been one of my favorite colors, but this spring, for some reason, I have been drawn to it. Maybe because we had such a long winter and the cheeriness of the color yellow makes me think of summer.
I took this picture on a beautiful evening last week. My hubby was out of town so the kids and I swung by McD's and grabbed some burgers and fries and headed over to the park for a picnic and some playing. Loving the warm and sunny weather we have been having. Makes me feel all 'yellow' inside :)

i heart faces - 'Celebrating Mom'

In the spirit of Mothers Day, this week i heart faces has chosen to "Celebrate Mom'. All too often the Mom's are the ones behind the lens, especially in my case. I really wish I had more pictures of myself with my kiddos. This picture is one of my all time favs of me and my little Tootie.
The best part about this picture is, my little man had asked if he could try to take a few pictures and this is what we ended up with. I couldn't be more proud to be the mother of my two special kiddos.

i heart faces - 'smiles'

Time again for i heart faces weekly photo challenge. This week's theme is 'smiles.' Sounds easy enough, right!? Wrong!! Trying to find a picture of one of my kids with a genuine smile (not a cheezy grin) is no easy task. I did end up finding one of my little Tootie with a pretty cute smile, played with it a bit and this is what I came up with:
So if you are having a bad week or just want to see lots and lots of happy smiling faces, head on over to www.iheartfaces.blogspot.com by clicking on the link below ;)

iheartfaces - 'Collage'

Ooooh-weeee! I have been waiting for this weeks challenge like a kid waiting for Christmas!! When I saw that i heart faces had scheduled the theme "Collages" for an upcoming photo challenge, I immediately knew the photos I wanted to put into a collage for my entry.

You see, my little Tootie is now nearly 2 1/2 years old and seems to be learning new talents daily. Her most recent fascination is buttoning and unbuttoning her shirt. At times she can be one stubborn little thing and insists on doing it all by herself. Since it takes her a while to complete the entire process, I figured it would be a nice opportunity to snap a few pictures of her while she was actually sitting still. As a matter of fact, she was even hamming it up a bit for me! Hopefully you'll enjoy the collage as much as I enjoyed watching it all unfold.
Now, make sure to head over to iheartfaces.blogspot.com by clicking on the button below to check out all of the other creative collages!
